Dream 1991 moves us to a time when the Slovenian nation found itself at the crossroads of pivotal decisions. We look at the events of that time and their impact on the individual, through the eyes of the family and three generations who, in their own way, face the uncertainty of their situation and the uncertainty of their future. The background of the independence process is illuminated by the film throughout numerous interviews with, at the time, active participants of the process, such as writers, journalists, members of the first Slovenian government, members of the Territorial Defence, and numerous other participants. A diverse video and photo archive complements the author's film language and evokes memories of the time when television was the most popular and widespread window into the world. Diligent and self-sacrificing media reporting and documentation of on-going events of the time thus finds its place in this film and enables viewer an authentic journey through time.
