Explore with the Miracle Hunter: Lujan

Our Lady of Luján is a 16th-century statue of the Virgin Mary, displayed in the Basilica of Luján, Argentina. Her feast day is May 8. The statue, made in Brazil, was sent to Argentina in 1630 for a settler who wanted to build a shrine in Santiago del Estero. However, during the journey, the oxen refused to move until the crate containing the statue was removed, leading people to believe it was a miracle. The Virgin Mary was then venerated in a chapel for 40 years before being moved to Luján. Pope John Paul II visited the shrine during his apostolic journey.
