The Militia Immaculatae (meaning the "Army of the Immaculate One"), called in English the Knights of the Immaculata, is a worldwide Catholic evangelization movement founded by St. Maximilian Kolbe in 1917. He described it as a 'global vision of Catholic life in a new form, strongly connected with the Immaculate, our mediator with Jesus.'
MI advocates for the conversion of all people to God, both Catholics and non-believers, and their consecration to the Immaculate Virgin Mary. It is not enough to just pray; one must also act and proclaim faith in God and devotion to Mary through the means of social communication. The Militia Immaculatae is a public association of the faithful, open to laypeople, monks, nuns, and priests. MI members, mindful of their call to evangelize, strive to give witness to the Faith everywhere. They seek to reach out to their own families, friends, co-workers, fellow parishioners, the sick and elderly, youth, adults, and whomever they meet, in order to lead every individual with Mary to Christ, Our Savior and Our Hope.
