Miracle Hunter continues his journey in France

The second season of Explore with the Miracle Hunter series brought along many interesting miraculous events. Out of nine episodes, seven were about Marian apparitions!

A lot of new stylings had to be sewn for our Mary actress, giving that Mary always appears in a different outfit. We joke all the time that at this point we could make a Mary fashion show.

We had to come up with innovative ways to film her, as well. Mary appeared floating in air in Beauraing episode, so she was filmed in a studio and added on a sky in postproduction. She appeared on a roof of a building in Pontmain, so we shot her standing on a table and on the roof of our van to get the proper angle. When shooting the Banneux scene, it started raining and instead of stopping, we continued with assistants holding the umbrellas above Mary’s head and the camera. Mary appeared in a grotto in Trefontane, so we had to climb downhill, carrying all the equipment in backpacks.

In Pompeii, Mary appeared with baby Jesus in her lap. We had two baby Jesuses on set, just in case. Unfortunatelly, none of them were interested in cooperating for the camera and even a stuffed groundhog couldn’t help us make them willing to act. At the end, our baby Jesus took a 10-minute nap and we seized the opportunity to shoot the scene. What a win!

The remaining two episodes, although not apparitions, were related to Mary, as well. The miracles of Lourdes, which are the result of the Mary apparition, tell the story of the miraculous water that cured many devoted pilgrims. The Genazzano story was about a fresco of Mary with baby Jesus that flew from Albania to the beautiful Italian city in the midst of festivities for the feast day of St. Marco.

We have interesting jobs: downhill hiking, climbing vans and playing with stuffed groundhogs – and we wouldn’t trade it for anything!
